Retail Estate, Oldham
BEK has recently carried out a site investigation to support the construction of a proposed retail extension at a furniture retailer in Oldham. The site investigation was carried out to address risks associated with contamination (including ground gas and controlled waters) and to provide information to support foundation design. The site which operates 7 days a week required trial pit, window sample and cable and percussive borehole investigations within the current car park at the site. Therefore, careful logistical planning was required to mitigate any risks to the health and safety of tall contractors, employees and customers at the site whilst achieving the objectives of the investigation. The site investigation has been completed successfully and a ‘Ground Assessment Report’ addressing both the contamination and geotechnical issues has been produced for the site.
