Former Landfill and Railway Sidings – Buxton
BEK Enviro has recently completed a Preliminary Risk Assessment for an area of land of approximately 5 hectaresacres encompassed by a former landfill and railway sidings located in Buxton. The assessment included liaison with High Peak Borough Council who were familiar with the site and were able to provide copies of several previous site investigation reports to assist with the assessment. However, as much of the methodology used in the previous reports has been superseded, the BEK assessment included a quantitative assessment of the existing data using current generic assessment criteria assessment included a for various parts of the site. Following a review of all pertinent information to the site, BEK has zoned the site to reflect the its distinct contaminative histories and considered the different land ownership. The diligent assessment of the data has produced a zone specific plan to further assess the remaining risks to human health, controlled waters and the wider environment which have been significantly reduced by bringing the data in line with current guidance.
